Named in memory of Dr. Swarn S. Kalsi, this fund accepts donations, which honors Dr. Kalsi’s legacy, and provides long-term support to enable EPICS in IEEE to annually award two or more projects designed to inspire multi-disciplinary teams of engineering students to collaborate and engineer solutions to address local community needs aligned with EPICS in IEEE’s pillars that match Dr. Kalsi’s passions - Access and Abilities, Environment, Education and Outreach, or Human Services.
Your donations support the establishment of a new EPICS in IEEE Community of Projects named for Dr. Swarn S. Kalsi to recognize an IEEE Life Fellow who made a significant contribution in high temperature superconducting magnet technology and electrical engineering, such as electrical rotating machinery, power equipment, and power systems. Dr. Kalsi was passionate about hands-on education and supporting the next generation of engineers. In 2011 he published his book, “Applications of High Temperature Superconductors to Electric Power Equipment” and in 2013, Dr. Kalsi was named an IEEE Fellow for the development and application of high temperature superconductor electric power equipment. Dr. Kalsi has numerous publications and patents that have influenced our technological world today.
Over time, the IEEE Foundation and EPICS in IEEE may expand or adjust the project to ensure the activities support are meaningful to the next generation of engineers and provide maximum impact.
Donate today and perpetuate the memory of Dr. Swarn S. Kalsi. Donations made in tribute will be matched by the Kalsi Family.
